October - Environmental Education Month
This month nocturnal animals and the importance of ecological survey were on the curriculum for Camp Mallana students. Wildlife Unlimited took students spotlighting and set harp traps to introduce students to some of the lesser-known animals of the Banksia Peninsula including Little Forest Bats and Goulds Wattled Bat, Krefts Gliders, Brushtail Possums and plenty of wolf spiders. Tawny Frogmouths also put on a show – nesting nearby and feeding on the abundant Bogong Moths among the eucalypt flowers.

Free pest control anyone? Microbats eat a lot of bugs – up to half their body weight in a night! Lucky for us this includes mosquitoes and agricultural pests.
East Gippsland CMA put on a glorious sunny day for the Celebrate the Lakes community day. It was great to be involved with this community event for a second year.
We had two aims this year – to introduce students and community members to the wonders of water bugs and to spread the Safe Cat, Safe Wildlife message. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat or a browse.

Wildlife Unlimited were privileged to help the wonderful and hardworking Eagle Point Landcare group celebrate 40 years of Landcare. There was a great community turn out joining us for a spotlighting walk through Eagle Point reserve.
