Our visit to Mt Rothwell Sanctuary is building a partnership that will protect and support some of our most endangered animals.


Members from the team at Wildlife Unlimited and Biodiversity Legacy visited Odonata Foundation's Mt Rothwell Sanctuary in Little River last week. A highlight was seeing Goose, one of four Spot-tailed Quolls that range freely around the 470-ha sanctuary (yes, his partner in crime is called Maverick).

A sanctuary for all


We also wandered through the granite outcrops, home to an abundance of Southern Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies, which are listed as nationally threatened under the EPBC Act. This important population of wallabies has supported the translocation program to the wild site at Little River Gorge, East Gippsland. Wildlife Unlimited has been involved with this translocation program from the beginning.


Mt Rothwell forms part of Odonata’s broader Sanctuary Network and is home to a wealth of other threatened species, including Eastern Quolls, Eastern Barred Bandicoots, Bettongs, Long-nosed Potoroos, and Bush Stone-curlews.
