Waterbug field laboratory

Sampling for waterbugs at Tambo Bluff lagoons

In late March Wildlife Unlimited set up a temporary field laboratory to survey waterbugs (or aquatic macroinvertebrates) in Dolphin Lagoon and Tambo Bluff Lagoon on behalf of the fantastic Tambo Bluff Landcare group.
Aquatic macroinvertebrates are a great indicator of water quality. Run-off from surrounding areas, bank erosion, and temperature are examples of factors that influence water quality and the kinds of macro-invertebrates able to live in a waterway.

A Helping Hand for local Sheoaks

Wildlife Unlimited is participating in the Helping Hands project and the recovery of valuable Sheoak stands on private land. Sheoaks are the main source of food for Glossy Black Cockatoo, whose habitat was severely impacted by the East Gippsland fires.
